CMC has classes for children from 6 months of age to seniors. Activities include general music, strings (violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar) & string ensembles, piano, voice, choir and vocal ensembles, and Renaissance winds. Most classes and lessons occur on site at CMC.
Most courses run for three 10-week terms (late September - mid June). Registrants are automatically re-enrolled in Winter & Spring. Private lessons are 11 week terms.
Please Notify the office if you wish to withdraw before June. Exceptions are Early Childhood, Senior Piano & MMPDX (participants re-enroll each term). Listed price in the catalog is the fee for each term.
Tuition fees are due at the time of registration (at the time of confirmation for private lessons). In Winter & Spring, tuition is due the first week of the term.
Instructor may require materials not included in the registration fee.
Daily practice is an important part of a successful music education.
See our Hours/Calendar page for a listing of the term schedule & break/holiday closures.
Many classes allow new registrants after fall term - contact CMC for more info.
June, July-August, and September sessions allow students to continue their studies through the summer or enter as a new student (we recommend starting beginning violin, viola or cello lessons in the school-year term, however).
Over 55 performing artist-instructors serve about 1,000 participants per week at CMC. View their biographies here.
Thanks to generous donations, low-cost string instrument rentals are available to Parks & Recreation music participants, with priority given first to scholarship students, then youth, then adults. Contact CMC for more details.
