Classes, events, and other news for June through August
Budget Update
In May there was a City budget amendment to close CMC, but it was rescinded before it could be voted upon by the City Council. Thank you to all who provided your thoughts about the budget to the Council!
In June the Portland City Council adopted the 2025-26 budget which keeps our Center operating at the same level as in 2024-25. For 2025-26 and beyond, the Council referred a Parks Levy renewal measure to the voters for the November ballot. See PP&R's website for more on the Levy - past and future:
Summer Play
CMC was at several park activities this summer, providing drop-in piano and drum activities:
- Parklane Park opening June 12
- East Portland Summer Arts Festival in Ventura Park July 12 & 13
- Kenilworth Park Summer Free for All concert July 19.

Looking Ahead
Summer is in full swing, and we are gearing up for the fall term and the coming school year.
- August 21: Classes available to view online*
- September 11: Classes available for registration
- September 28: Fall Term Begins
*PP&R is saving trees by moving all activity guides to online only. (Activities for age 60+ and for Adaptive Recreation will still be published in paper as well as online.) See www.portland.gov/parks/register for more information.
